Personalised e-learning support with AI tutor Kim from Duden Learnattack

KI-Tutor Kim von Duden Learnattack

The Duden Learnattack platform (Cornelsen Group) is now using artificial intelligence to support pupils. The AI tutor Kim accompanies them around the clock with tips and learning content for maths, German and English.

We realised Duden Learnattack over nine years ago on the basis of the Drupal content framework and have been continuously developing the portal ever since. The implementation of the AI learning companion is the latest expansion stage of the successful e-learning offering. Kim is optimised for school-based learning and offers protected access to ChatGPT (GPT-4). The tool accesses Cornelsen's learning videos and exercises and automatically filters out personal data. As it is tailored to specific learning needs according to the curriculum, other topics are not included. This ensures interaction between Kim and the users, focussing on conveying relevant information.

Requests to the AI tutor are not transmitted directly to the language model, but are anonymised via a secure intermediate layer. This ‘proxy’ uses technology from the company Ezri. Our backend team provided the connection via API (interface programming), while the frontend unit took care of the user interface and the implementation of the Duden Learnattack design.

‘In October 2024, we will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of our learning and tutoring platform,’ says Björn Hoffmann, Managing Director of Duden Learnattack. ‘UEBERBIT has been with us from the very beginning and continues to impress us with its competent, targeted project implementation.’
